Every year I like to enhance my skills and I sign up for various workshops to do just that! This year I decided to attend a workshop by the super talented Kayleigh from Paisley Ann Photography. A dear friend was telling me about her work earlier this year and I fell in love with her style of shooting and her posed unposed look. The workshop fell on a very busy weekend and so at first I didn’t think I was able to make it, so instead, I asked if she would be up for shooting my family here in CT. Since she was going to be MA anyways, she agreed! We had a fantastic afternoon and so much fun, though my kids sure made it challenging, hey I know all about those kids clients, you are not alone! 🙂 I am seriously dying with excitement to see some of the images she captured that night, but this is a good way to practice being patient. Which despite what my newborn clients thing, is not one of my best traits. So long story short, it was a super last minute decision to attend at least one day of her workshop! So on Friday, I drove down to MA to meet up at another super talented photographer’s studio to learn more from Kayleigh and absorb all her knowledge. We had two sessions scheduled for the day, the first one was a family session in a greenhouse, but unfortunately, due to some sun poisoning, I had to miss that one almost completely and sat it out in the bathroom. Thanks to some meds I made a quick recovery and was able to attend the sunset session. Are you kidding me with this location? I mean honestly, is that not heaven on earth? It is also known as tick city though, as I pulled at least 3 off myself on my drive back home. Shudder. But hey, so worth it still right? Kayleigh’s style is so beautiful and while she puts everyone in a certain position the images look so natural and great without anyone doing super cheesy unnatural smiles. Goals right there! I just love this so much! What an amazing experience to just stand there and observe, I do get kinda shy with a few people around so I like to just stay back and soak it all in. And I did. My head is full of new ideas and thoughts! If you are a photographer – make sure at some time in your life you mentor with Kayleigh, you will not regret it! We did get some homework and I this is why I have to find three families to practice my new skills on! Luckily I already found one – so as of right now I am looking for two more!
I want you to read this thoroughly though because this might not be for everyone! Let’s go:
I am looking for a family of at least four, the youngest kid has to be over 7 months old. We will spend a weeknight evening together in Milford Connecticut, this is very important, I do not have any weekends available, so please don’t reply if you cannot make this happen. The session will take place in the last hour of the day, so about 1.5 hours before sunset would be when we will start. As you can see below the pictures are very playful and you will most likely not be asked to look at the camera and smile, I am sure it will happen sometimes, but that is not my goal for those sessions. I want to capture the connection between you and your family and show off the bond that connects you all. We will have a fun evening playing around and capturing some awesome memories. In exchange for your time, you will receive 5 digital images ($550 value) and if you would like you can buy more pictures after seeing your online gallery, but you certainly do not have to. Wardrobe is very important to any session really, but especially for those. So I will style your session. Meaning I will tell you what you will wear. Fun right? I might already have some pieces that could work but if not you would have to purchase them. If I think I can reuse the items and keep them for my studio wardrobe I will buy them for you. But I would plan in about $50 per person at the minimum to get some fun items for your shot. I know this is an investment, but one that will pay off. Sounds like this would be fun to you? Send us an email: Andrea@utechristinphotography.com please make sure you include a picture of your family so we can check you out! 🙂 If you have super awesome long hair, or at least one person in your family you are already my favorite. 🙂 I am so excited about this and I hope you are too! Let’s create some memories together!!!
