We have been hosting Cookies with Santa in Milford, Connecticut, for years, and it has become something our families look forward to every holiday season.
One of the most rewarding parts is seeing the same families return year after year.
Sometimes we see a little one who was once hesitant to meet Santa come back the following year and confidently run straight into his arms. Other times, we get to watch siblings grow, personalities change, and Christmas traditions become part of their childhood story.
And honestly?
Those repeat families mean the world to us.
There is something pretty magical about knowing that a family has trusted us to photograph their children’s Christmas memories year after year.
Creating the Perfect Christmas Atmosphere
Every year, we put a lot of thought into the backdrop and overall atmosphere for Cookies with Santa.
We don’t simply put Santa in front of a Christmas backdrop and call it a day.
We want the children to feel like they have stepped into a little piece of Christmas magic.
That means searching for the right backdrop, adding the details that make the scene feel warm and inviting, and creating a setting where children can relax, explore, eat their cookies, talk to Santa and simply be kids.
Because when the environment feels magical, the photographs become magical, too.
And every year we love seeing the finished set come together.
There is always that moment when everything is ready, Santa arrives, the lights are on, the cookies are waiting—and suddenly the studio feels a little bit like the North Pole.

One of my favorite things about photographing children is that no two children experience Santa in exactly the same way.
Some children run right up to him.
Some stand back and study him carefully.
Some have a million questions.
Some immediately want to tell Santa their entire Christmas wish list.
And some need a little time.
All of those reactions are completely okay.
There is no need to force a child into a perfect pose or manufacture a smile.
We let the interaction happen naturally and photograph the personality, excitement, curiosity and wonder as it unfolds.
Sometimes the shy moments become the sweetest photographs of all.

Over the years, Cookies with Santa has become a tradition for many of our families.
We have families who book our holiday sessions year after year, and watching their children grow through these photographs is one of the greatest joys of being a children’s photographer.
