I just realized that I never shared this special session on the blog. So what better time than the first blog post of the year. Meet sweet little Brayden who turned one last August. Please take the time and read on to learn more about his journey and check out his GoFund me page if you want to contribute to his journey.
Here are some words from his mommy: “Before birth, we received the news that Brayden had a complex heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Brayden would need 3 open heart surgeries by the age of 3 just to survive. So at 3 days old Brayden underweight his first major open-heart surgery at just 4 pounds. After surgery Brayden suffered from a stroke which resulted in seizures and 4 brain injuries, and he also became septic. And then just when things started to settle out he underwent his second open heart surgery just before his 6 month birthday. After many scary months at almost 10 months old, Brayden got to go home! Since then he has been thriving.”
We got together last year for this special occasion and to celebrate this big milestone! It was so much fun to plan out this special cakesmash, as I wanted to focus on just little Brayden and his heart. On his shirt, you can see one of his previous EKG recordings, showing his heartbeat. He couldn’t sit up on his own, so a special little chair worked magic. I am so grateful to my dear friend Jade who made his beautiful cake and donated her time and craft for this special smash. Isn’t he the cutest little guy you have ever seen? Also a big shoutout to his entire family who has been through so much and continues to fight for his health every day!
