If you are expecting a baby and wondering whether newborn photos are worth it, you are in the right place. I am a mama of two, and both had the pleasure of being photographed by me. Mind you, no one will ever see my daughters because I just started out and quickly realized that I was not very good at this. When my son was born 4 years later, I had gained some skills and experience, and his photos, I would willingly show others. 😉 But enough about me, back to you!

Those first days are a blur. You are healing, adjusting, running on coffee and adrenaline, and trying to memorize every tiny detail at the same time. The flaky skin, the little stretch, the way they curl up on your chest. It all changes so quickly.
I have been photographing newborns for 16 years here in Milford, Connecticut. I am trained specifically in newborn safety and posing, and I can tell you this with full confidence: these images become priceless faster than you think.
If you are feeling overwhelmed with decisions right now, let me take this one off your plate.

What Should I Look For When Hiring a Newborn Photographer
Newborn photography is a specialty. It is not just someone who owns a camera and likes babies.
You want someone who is trained in newborn safety, understands how to properly pose and support a baby, and knows how to read their cues. Your baby’s comfort and safety always come first in my studio.
With 16 years of experience, I have worked with hundreds of newborns. I know when to pause, when to adjust, and when baby is simply saying, I need a snack. I keep the studio warm, calm, and quiet. Everything is sanitized. Every pose is done with intention and care.

Experience matters. Training matters. Safety always matters most.
When Should I Book My Newborn Session
The sweet spot for those sleepy, curly poses is typically within the first two weeks after birth.
That does not mean you need to have your baby and then start searching for a photographer. Most families book during their second trimester to guarantee a spot on my calendar. Once your baby arrives, we finalize the exact date.
Planning ahead means one less thing to think about when you are holding your newborn for the first time.

What Happens During a Newborn Session
First, you breathe.
You walk into my Milford studio, and everything is ready. The wraps, the blankets, the tiny outfits, the headbands, all carefully selected and styled. You do not need to figure anything out.
Sessions are baby-led. If your little one needs to eat, we pause. If they need extra cuddles, we allow it. I gently guide them into natural, cozy poses that highlight all the tiny details you never want to forget.
Parents and siblings are always welcome to join. Some of the most meaningful images are the simple ones: mom holding her baby, dad’s hands wrapped around that tiny body, big sibling leaning in with curiosity.

I guide you the entire time so you never feel awkward or unsure of what to do. I promise, it is much easier than you think.
Do I Need To Bring Anything
Not much.
I provide everything needed for the session. High-quality wraps, soft layers, neutral backdrops, timeless props. My style is clean and classic, so your images will never feel trendy or dated.
If you have something meaningful, a blanket from grandma, a special heirloom, you are welcome to bring it. Otherwise, just bring the baby and maybe an extra feeding bottle.

When Will I Receive My Photos
The night of your session, you will receive your unedited images. From there, you will pick out your favorite ones, and editing will take at most two weeks.
Every image is carefully retouched by hand. I remove flaky skin, soften redness, and keep your baby looking natural and beautiful. You will be able to choose from digital collections and heirloom products designed to last for generations.
These are not files that live on your phone forever. They are meant for your walls, your albums, and your future grandchildren to hold one day.
How Much Does Newborn Photography Cost

In Milford, Connecticut, professional newborn photography typically ranges anywhere from $400 to $1500 depending on what is included. My collections include digital files, and you can order prints, canvases, or a stunning album after seeing your final gallery.
This is a custom experience. It includes years of training, specialized equipment, safety knowledge, editing time, and high-quality finished products.
It is an investment, yes. But it is also one of the only things from this season that truly grows in value over time.
Why I Do This
After 16 years of photographing newborns, I still get emotional watching new parents hold their babies during their session. There is something sacred about those first days.
Time moves forward whether we are ready or not. Your baby will stretch out. The curls will disappear. The newborn scrunch will become toddler energy before you blink.
My job is to pause that moment for you.
If you are expecting and looking for a newborn photographer in Milford or in Connecticut, I would love to guide you through the process and create something timeless for your family.
All you have to do is show up. I will take care of the rest.
