I have known his mommy for at least 5 years now and this is her fourth child – yup and there are no twins – she got four under 6 at this time! She is my personal hero because I am already overwhelmed with just two. haha. Anyways, ever since I knew she was pregnant with the second we were joking around and saying how fun it would be to capture these special moments on camera. Well, with me working in the city at the time and doing photography part-time, it just did not happen. I do not offer birth photography at this time, because the timing of it is just so unpredictable. Unfortunately, because as it turns out I really had an amazing time witnessing this special event! So it was the one day in the week that my hubby was home from work because it was his one day off, I had no clients and we just went out to have some breakfast without any kids around – I actually just posted on FB that we had 4 hours to ourselves with no kids around – and just as I was taken the first bite of my oh so delicious sandwich, I saw the text come in. “If you are still up for it – you could head this way”. I never finished a sandwich faster in my life! Hubs drove us home so I could get my car and I snatched my camera bag and everything else I had pre-packeded and off I went. I was really nervous I would miss it because the traffic on I-95 was horrific just like any morning BUT I got there just in time. With plenty of time as it turned out. :0 She was such a trooper and it was amazing to see her strength while going through this very long and painful process. She opted out for no drugs (I know – not me, I asked for them as soon as I got to the hospital) so emotions were very raw. Her sweet mommy, and husband were at her side and she also had a great friend/doula there that guided her through it. I got all teared up so many times and it was such a very special time of their lives and I was so very honored to be part of it. Here are a few images that are internet proofed and we kept the very personal images private, even though the picture with just his head sticking out, damn I wish I could show you. What a cool image that I will never forget! I am usually a fainter and cannot see anything bloody or painful, but for some reason I made it through. I must have been really focused on my task. Haha. Congratulations to you all, he is adorable! Thank you for letting me be part of this wonderful time in your life. Oh and I loved to hear you swear – you are always so well mannered in real life! Hahahahaha.
